Lacie 320GB Rugged USB2/Firewire 400/800 External Drive

NOTE:  Think of buying an external drive as an investment.  Not a spare of the moment wim.  Don’t let the drive with the highest disk space be the main factor for your decision.  You want to also make sure your drive is a reputable manafacture, that has fast transfer speeds and stability against breakage.  Connecting to any computer via USB2, Firewire 400 and Firewire 800 this versitile drive caters for all.

This drive is portable, this drive is FAST, this drive is realiable, this drive is up to 2.2 metre shock proof, this drive is rugged!  If you don’t already do it, it’s important that all your files are safely organised and in a place that virus’s canny get to.  When starting a new edit, it’s wise to make sure your scratch disks are set to your designated drive to ensure no files go astray. You want everything you do with 1 project, is kept in 1 folder, on one drive.  These 320GB drives are the Edit Crunching drives of the future.  The rugged drive is plug and play, with no need for a seperate power source, making it easy to edit away on the move.

Integral - Water/Shock resistant 8GB - USB stick.

I’ve been using these sticks for a few months now. Thankfully I havent put them to the waterproof test yet, but from what I do know about these drives, is that they are friendly and reliable. I have my 16GB stick on my keychain alongside my car keys. The rubbery outer shell adds to its stability, and now my keys wont scratch or crack the drive, as did cheaper alternatives in the past. You just never know when you’re going to need to burn/copy file information. Infact, I’m writing this post from Costa Coffee and I’ve been uploading videos to Vimeo that just happened to be the drive. Both PC and MAC compatible this little baby is a keeper.
